Interviewing our Player of the Month!
September 2015
After ganking for hours we finally managed to pounce on Asaku. He's gained quite a name for himself having been a self-taught MOBA player. We spent some time trying to find out more about him and trying to learn a trick or two!
Welcome Asaku!
Tell us more about yourself?
Hi, I go by the name of Asaku as its my nickname. I'm 18 as of this year, and I live in Singapore.
As the founder of the SEA guild ParadoX, what was the motive behind creating a guild?
The motive was to create a family rather than just a guild. A place where nobody gets left behind and everyone feels like they're an asset in the team. I want them to feel as if they really love being part of this guild.
What did you look for when recruiting players into your guild?
One word? Attitude. I'd take attitude over skill any time. Well of course they would have to have already grasped the basics of the game.
How would you say you feel about your guild? Has it lived up to your expectations?
It feels really amazing to look at how we have progressed as a guild in such a short span of time. From being just a group of casual players, we are starting to branch out into competitive play and tutoring. Rest assured, I will do whatever it takes to make this a success. And as far as I am concerned, this has shot way beyond my expectations!
Tell us more about your playstyle. How would you describe your play style?
Hmm, as far as playstyle goes, hero choices will depend on my mood really, I just go with whatever I feel like unless I'm playing competitively then it'll depend on the hero combo. I would assess the situation and then determine whether playing Agressive/Defensive will be a better choice.
We have heard that you mainly play lane and jungle roles. Which one do you prefer and why?
I prefer the lane as I've been playing lane for most of the games I've played .
Who in you opinion would you say is the most OP character? Conversely which characters would you say need urgent buffs to make them viable choices?
As far as OP heroes goes, I'd say none as it highly depends on how you deliver using that hero. For the latter, I'd say Ardan, Fortress, Adagio.
As MOBAs go, is Vainglory your first MOBA? If not which was your first MOBA and how did you pick up Vainglory?
VainGlory is not my first MOBA game. I started with DotA. I was looking around for a mobile MOBA game as my computer broke down at that point of time.
What aspects of Vainglory do you like the most and like the least?
I love that it actually runs quite smoothly for a MOBA game on a mobile phone. The least I like about it are the sheer number of AFKs LOL.
Have you ever participated in regional/international tournaments? Tell us about your experience.
Yes, I've participated for the World's Invite SEA region qualifiers. It was really a huge deal and I felt really really hyped while playing it. And the pressure whilst playing in it is just tremendous.
Favourite skin? (aside from the rumored bikini Fortress)
Skaarf tier 2. BECAUSE HE IS A FLUFFY UNICORN WHO SHOOTS OUT FIREBALLS INSTEAD OF RAINBOWS BUT I HOPE IT'LL BE RAINBOWS FOR TIER 3!
I'm sure a veteran player like you has a great deal of experience. What advice can you offer novice and seasond players?
Map awareness. Map awareness is one of the key to success. Always read the update patch notes to keep up to date with what changes there are. Know the fundamentals of the hero you're playing.
Thank you Asaku for sharing your thoughts. You can catch more of Asaku at www.twitch.com/paradoxvg where he is busy waiting for the next gank.
